WASTE

A Series of Collages

There is renewed value in tactile work. It can be freeing to step away from the computer to create something for the act alone - a sort of mindfulness practice without plans or constraints. Through collaging, I’ve learned that removing expectations leaves room for surprise and I’m generally happier with the outcome - a point of view I’ve begun to apply to my professional work and personal life.

In terms of materials, I push myself to use scraps or trash that carry evidence of their original purpose. Discarded shipping labels, claim tickets, and failed test prints can be both ecologically sensible and  aesthetic.

Through this practice I hope to bring awareness to the waste we create and challenge myself and others to find beauty in the disposable.
